Computer Aide Juniper Library

Computer Aide Volunteer

Goal of the Position:
Assisting community members using public computers, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines.

- Assisting library patrons using the public computers. This may include using email, accessing websites, saving files and more.
- Helping library patrons print, scan and copy
- Assisting library patrons with faxing
- Help patrons access the library's free Wi-Fi on their personal devices

Time Commitment:
- currently only weekend shifts are available
- Able to commit to at least a single two-hour shift every week currently only weekend shifts are available.
- Ability to commit to the program for a minimum of 6 months

- Be comfortable using computers and technology
- Have a background and interest in working with technology, both hardware and software
- Patience for working with customers who are unfamiliar with technology
- Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others

- A general orientation to the library and position specific training will be provided.

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must complete a background check.
Spanish/Bi-lingual is a plus.

1. Knowledge (not expert) of Microsoft Office Suite, Web Browsers, and Email.
2. Ability to learn the Library's computer reservation system and print station.
3. Ability to interact with customers and staff openly and courteously.
4. Ability to train/assist others in use of equipment, software, and related items.

Time Commitment:
- Currently, only WEEKEND shifts are available.
- Able to volunteer at least two hours every week.
- Minimum 6 months commitment.

Training: A general orientation to the library and position specific training will be provided.
